Did you know that the Mendocino Coast is home to an endangered snail??

This is the “Redwood Sideband” (Monadenia infumata), and despite its distinction as an "endangered" species, it is not an uncommon mollusk to spot in coast redwood forests!

If you live or frequent redwood groves, keep your eyes peeled (especially during April and May, their most active time of the year)—and the next time you spot a snail, have a good look up close. You may have spotted a rare mollusk!
